What is a Nurse Practitioner?

A nurse practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse who has completed additional education and training and can assess patients, make diagnoses, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans. They work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.

What is the difference between a Psychiatrist and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner?

The main difference between a psychiatrist and a psychiatric nurse practitioner is their educational background and the scope of practice. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in mental health, is able to diagnose and treat mental illnesses through medication management, therapy, and is skilled in numerous medical interventions. They have undergone extensive medical training, including medical school and residency.

On the other hand, a psychiatric nurse practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized training in psychiatric and mental health care. They can assess, diagnose, and treat mental health disorders, provide therapy and counseling, and prescribe medications within their scope of practice.

While both professionals work in mental health care, psychiatrists have a broader medical background, whereas psychiatric nurse practitioners bring their nursing expertise and often take a holistic and patient-centered approach.

Do you provide telehealth?

Yes! Telehealth has expanded the reach of services and has allowed many clients with busy work lives, family commitments, and commutes to stay engaged in their care. We believe telehealth is here to stay, and proudly offer this service in addition to traditional in-person appointments. Please let us know your preference when schedule.

While most of the time telehealth is appropriate, there may be an occasion that we will ask you to come to the clinic for a visit for medication monitoring or other clinical assessment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 24 hours or more prior to the appointment time will not be charged. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be subject to a fee.

Do you accept insurance?

We are currently accepting the following insurance plans: United Healthcare, United Healthcare UMR, United Healthcare Oxford, Aetna PPO and POS plans, Cigna, Cigna/Evernorth, and Medicare.

We encourage you to contact your insurance company prior to your first visit to verify that our providers are in network with your plan.

For out of network clients, we are happy to provide a superbill, receipts, or other documentation that your insurance may require for reimbursement. To avoid unanticipated costs, please contact your insurance company prior to scheduling an appointment to ensure you are eligible for reimbursement.

Please contact us for our cash rate schedule.

What types of payments do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards and HSA/FSA cards. To protect privacy and security of our clients, we use an encrypted credit card on-file system to collect payment, which we charge after your sessions.

If preferred, we are also happy to accept checks in person or by mail, as well as payments over Zelle.
